Songs and dance tunes from 18th-century London [Suffolk]

Sunday 01 September 2024
15:00 to 16:00

A concert of music reflecting the multi-cultural population of 18th-century London, with music by Handel and Pepusch, Ignatius Sancho and Joseph de Bologne, Gaillard, Arne and others.

Bloomsbury Baroque

Philippa Hyde - Soprano

William Summers - Baroque Flute, Recorder

Diane Moore - Baroque Violin

Ibrahim Aziz - Bass Viol

Yeo Yat-Soon - Harpsichord

Based in central London, the ensemble performs music by the disparate communities of the Georgian era who found a home in the capital city. With its comparatively free press, burgeoning public culture and thriving commercial life, many musicians were drawn to settle in London - particularly from French and German backgrounds.
