Rival empires - Renaissance music from England and Spain [London]

Friday 05 October 2018
19:30 to 21:30

The Lovekyn Consort will perform music from the formative period of Spanish political consolidation - the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries - and from the time of England's increasing naval power and exploration: the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries.  Between these two periods we will mark in music the 'Armada' battles, when the two nations fought for control of trade routes and supremacy at sea.

The performance will take place on an exact replica of Sir Francis Drake's ship of exploration: the 'Golden Hinde'.
